Mentoring Apprentices in the Workplace
a free online course for OTMA employers
This e-learning has been designed for apprentice employer staff who directly line manage and or support apprentices in the workplace. In this workbook we cover the basic structure of an OTMA apprenticeship, its components parts and their purpose, before moving on to top tips and concepts for mentors and supervisors. We will also revise some of the funding rules and regulations relating to the important concepts of On the Job Training and Off the Job Training and how the mentor / line manager can support both these activities.
This e-learning is authored in a software package called Articulate RISE 360. We use this software to create digital workbooks for most of our apprenticeships. RISE modules (teaching material) are accessed by your OTMA apprentice directly in their e-portfolio and each workbook features an assessment and Knowledge quiz. We set the pass mark at 80% and the scores achieved by apprentices are recorded in the e-portfolio. Our tutors provide feedback on all work submitted.

We’ve teamed up with the Blue Marble Education and Training to provide our learners with an introduction to the debates, issues and concepts about climate change and de-carbonisation. This is available to OTMA employers too… and it’s free !
Blue Marble provide e-learning and expert led seminars and workshops to OTMA and these are now embedded in all of our courses.
